Maine’s Rich Seasons Make the State a Year-Round Destination

Whether you're a leaf-peeper or a sun-seeker, there's something for everyone

Fall

In the fall, visitors enjoy the vibrant hues of the changing leaves along with the many harvest festivals around the state. Take in the crisp fall air at one of our local agricultural fairs. Pick apples at a family orchard. Enjoy lobster during its peak season. Visit one of Maine’s several art museums. Pitch a tent under the autumn sky and wake up to go on a “Moose Safari.”

Winter

Maine’s white winters mean skiingsnow-shoeing and sledding. Bundle up and explore the thousands of miles of snowmobile trails. Check out the world’s biggest snowmen and women at the Bethel Winterfest or icefish at a lake. If cold weather isn’t your thing, take in a Portland Pirate’s hockey game or a Maine Red Claw’s basketball game. Grab a cup of hot chocolate while you shop for deals in Freeport or Kittery’s famous outlet stores.

Spring and Summer

Things heat up here in the spring and summer. Hit the beach, take a hike, or cruise a bay. Go white-water rafting. Take in some summer Shakespeare. Bring your sweet to Maine Maple Sunday, where sugarhouses offer samples of fresh maple syrup. Catch the Machias Wild Blueberry Festival or take a whale-watching cruise.

There’s so much to see and do in Maine. Plan your trip today.
